As Prairie View A&M University celebrates 150 years, D9 Operation $150 for 150 invites members of PVAMU's National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations to each raise $150,000 in honor of the University that shaped generations of their members. Each goal is led by PVAMU's own alumni chapters — but every member of a participating organization, PVAMU alumni or not, is invited to help their organization reach it

A Challenge Born from Legacy

This initiative was conceived by Major General Antoinette "Toni" Gant, a 1994 PVAMU alumna, Distinguished Military Graduate, and initiate of the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In 2022, Gant became the first woman promoted to Brigadier General in the history of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Engineer Regiment and the first African American woman to serve as a division commander in the Corps.

General Gant proposed D9 Operation $150 for 150 as a way to channel the Divine Nine's long tradition of scholarship, service, and leadership directly into Prairie View's Sesquicentennial celebration — inviting alumni and members within each organization to set and reach their own $150,000 goal, together honoring 150 years of history with $150,000 apiece.

What Your Gift Builds

A gift of $150,000 carries real, measurable weight at PVAMU. The University's average need-based scholarship award for incoming first-year students is $8,156 — meaning a single organization reaching its goal could fund need-based scholarships for approximately 18 incoming Panthers. If all nine Divine Nine organizations reach their individual goals, D9 Operation $150 for 150 will generate $1.35 million toward scholarships and student success initiatives across the University.

How It Works

1. Your organization commits to a $150,000 goal in support of PVAMU scholarships and student success.
2. Members give at every level — from first-time donors to leadership-level Campaign Ambassadors — with University Advancement providing fundraising support throughout.
3. Every organization's progress is tracked toward its individual goal.
4. In June 2027, each participating organization formally presents its total to PVAMU President Dr. Tomikia P. LeGrande at a collective check presentation.

Is this challenge open to non-PVAMU alumni chapters of Divine Nine organizations?

D9 Operation $150 for 150 is led by PVAMU's own alumni chapters, each working toward its own $150,000 goal. Any Divine Nine member is welcome to give toward any participating organization's goal, whether or not that member attended PVAMU or belongs to the specific organization they're supporting. Every gift helps support Prairie View A&M University students and contributes to the success of the D9 Operation $150 for 150 initiative.

Where do the funds go?

Gifts made through the D9 Operation $150 for 150 initiative are directed to the scholarship or designated fund selected by the participating Divine Nine organization. All funds are administered by the Prairie View A&M University Foundation and are used to support student success, scholarships, academic programs, and other University priorities in accordance with the purpose of the designated fund.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and donors will receive a gift receipt for tax purposes.

What happens at the end of the campaign?
